Chemical Hygiene Safety (Laboratory Safety)    
Industrial and Academic

The purpose of this training session is to communicate the health and physical hazards of the chemicals you're exposed to. The training requirements include the requirements of the Hazard Communication standard. The training covers the following areas: Hazards of the substances employees are exposed to; the standard and its appendices; location and availability of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) and/or known references on safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals; emergency procedures; employer's Chemical Hygiene Plan and its availability and location; Methods and observations to determine present or release of a hazardous chemical; work practices, and personal protective equipment.

Competent Person for Construction

OSHA defines competent person as “one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them.”  [29 CFR 1926.32]

Compressed Gas Cylinder Safe Use & Handling

This course discusses what a compressed gas is, what a cryogenic liquid is, how to handle and store compressed gas cylinders, and the hazards of both compressed gases and cryogenic liquids.

Confined Space Awareness (Permit-Required)

This course meets OSHA requirements for awareness of permit required confined space.  The course is designed to give all affected employees the knowledge of the hazards associated with permit required confined spaces.


Note: This training course only covers general awareness of permit required confined spaces. Entrants, attendants, entry supervisors, and rescuers need training specific to their duties.  See other specific sessions.

Confined Space Authorized Entrant (Permit-Required)

This course covers the duties of a permit-required confined space entrant, the hazards which you may encounter while working in the confined space, use and limitations of relevant confined space equipment, such as harnesses, retrieval devices, gas detection devices, etc.  The entry permit, the communication system during an entry, and the rescue and emergency procedures will also be presented.

Confined Space Authorized Attendant
(Permit-Required)

This course covers the role of an attendant, the purpose and components of an entry permit, the permit system, requirements for alternate entry procedures, space reclassification, hazards in a confined space, methods used to keep accurate count of entrants, communication during entry, monitoring activities inside and outside the permit space, rescue and emergency services, and coordinating entry procedures for multiple employers.

Note: This training course only covers the requirements for the Attendant.  Entrants, entry supervisors, and rescuers need training specific to their duties.  See other specific course offerings. This 4 hour course assumes that the participants have had confined space experience and/or training as entrants.

Confined Space Entry Supervisor (Permit-Required)

This course covers the topics relevant to the entry supervisor, such as the procedures involved, the permit system including preparation, issuance, use, and cancellation. Also covered are the procedures for removal of unauthorized individuals in the confined space, hazards that can occur in a confined space, behavioral effects of the hazards on the entrants, necessary monitoring, the entry permit annual review, the communication used during an entry, as well as rescue and emergency procedures. 

Note: This 4 hour course assumes that the participants have had confined space experience.

The course will teach the worker to recognize the spaces and its hazards, recognize the health effects of exposure, testing procedures for atmospheric monitoring, hot work, proper selection and use of PPE, and the duties and responsibilities for the confined space entrant, attendant and supervisor.

Confined Space (Permit-Required) - REFRESHER
Combination (Entrant, Attendent, & Supervisor)

Confined space refresher training is provided to personnel when: their job duties change, when there is a change in the confined space entry procedures, or when deficiencies in performance are noted. Refresher training provides a review of the practical applications of the skills learned during initial training and field exercises.  This course includes the mandatory review of your sites cancelled permits.

Prerequisite: All attendess must show proof of Initial Training or Refresher Training within the last three years.

Confined Space Rescue for Company Rescue Teams

This course covers procedures used by company rescue teams, including knowledge needed to perform a rescue, procedures outlined in your company’s emergency response plan, as well as the possible hazards that you may encounter.

This 2 day course includes CPR/AED/First Aid Certification/ Respiratory training/Fit Testing

Confined Space - Rescue for Fire Departments

This course is designed for the technical level confined space rescue.  Topics included are tactics, ropes, integrated mechanical advantages, patient packaging, lanyard assessments, fall protection, gas detection devices, removal techniques, maintaining a safe rescue environment, methods of communication, donning and doffing, and supplied air-lines.

CPR & AED

                                     This CPR and AED course teaches the average person the basics of emergency life support, and takes the fear out of AED use. It also follows Emergency Cardiac Care guidelines and meets OSHA standards. This course covers: Taking action in an emergency, assessing the victim, cardiac emergencies, and basic life support, including management of airway, breathing and circulation, and using an automated external defibrillator (AED).
